I am so confused right now and really need advice!
I fell pregnant in august but the baby died at 8 wks 5 days :-(
We had a d&c 5 weeks ago and we're told to wait 4-6 weeks until trying again.i felt fine and had hardly any bleeding and we ended up having intercourse 3 days after.
Now 5 weeks on,no signs of a period,I got curious and brought 3 pregnancy tests( basic ones) from my local supermarket.i took two today and both came up positive showing a very faint line.
Now I know that u can get pregnant so soon but I also know it might not be a new pregnancy but just leftover hormones from the last one.
But saying that,I shouldn't have hormones left 5 weeks on should I? And if I did would a basic test pick that up? I also tested during the day when my urine was less strong? What do you all think?

Having experienced a missed miscarriage I would absolutely hate to get your hopes up. But it would seem like there is a definite possibility that you may well be pregnant. If I was you I would make an appointment to go to the doctor. I imagine they would send you for a scan. If not, you never know what their budget will allow for etc, you can pay for a private scan and I think they do them from 9 weeks for about £100. I hope it all goes well for you.

A faint line?? Well I'm hoping it's a positive result for you both. I've had a number of miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy so I understand how you must be feeling.
My advice would be to leave it another week, no scans etc, unless you are experiencing pain, etc. There is a small chance the pregnancy hormones are still floating about in your system.
Make an appointment to see your GP in a weeks time. Fingers crossed, I think you know it's only a matter of time before you have your babba XXX By the way. all pregnancy tests use the same method of determining whether you are are pregnant or not, the more basic ( cheap) ones are not less reliable, just less sensitive to pregnancy hormones.

Thanks for your comments this miscarriage really has devastated us both and I'm trying not to get any hopes up! But seeing as the cheap tests are less sensitive I wouldn't think they would pick up on leftover hormones floating about as they would be pretty hard to pick up 5 weeks on...god confusing stuff or what! Xxx

I'm going through the same thing at the moment.

MC at 5wks + 4 over 5 weeks ago. Started ttc again a week later. No sign of AF and 3 faint positives earlier in the week followed by 4 bfn's including using fmu.

I'm waiting until Sunday to do one of the early indicator tests but not hopeful.

I've got some symptoms - some nausea, spots on face and my emotions are all over the place but trying not to get my hopes up just in case.

Fingers crossed for you xx

I got pg after a mc, without having a period in between. I knew I was ovulating 2 weeks after the mc (no D&C though), and 2 weeks after that I tested positive.

I really hope you are pg. The only thing I would say though is would you have ov'd straight after and D&C, like that? I've not had one so I don't know too much about when you might ovulate with a missed mc. I have also read on here about people waiting a really long time for their hormone levels to get back to normal.

Good luck!
