Conception

How terrible are these sperm analysis results?

This is the second set. They were only done three weeks apart.

Total count 110million
Forward progressive 25% (was 8% although had been left in cold in glove box for half an hour!)
Slow progressive 10%
The rest are dead.
Morpholgy 2% (was 1%)

We have a ds conceived naturally first cycle but have been ttc for quite a while this time round.
Do we have any hope at all of naturally conceiving with these results? We haven't spoken to any drs, just been given a print out of results.

Dh is taking fertility blend and pine bark but only for the last three weeks so won't have had any affect yet.

Thanks for any advice!

Count is brilliant! Morphology is low (same as my OH).

Of course you have a chance!! Get oh on the wellman conception, continue with those supplements and get him to cut out booze and fags (if he smokes and drinks).

He has stopped drinking and smoking and gone on a health kick but only since mid jan. would only just beginning to have effect now I think.
I can't believe the results were this bad when we conceived ds.

How long have you been ttc?

It takes 3 months for new sperm to be produced so you're right that the effects will only start to show now. I've been ttc for ages :( Just under 2 years. You?

About the same. A bit longer but some cycles missed as dh abroad for work so overall reckon about 24 cycles. Beginning to despair! We were so lucky with ds. Unfortunately conceiving first cycle made us think we would have no trouble conceiving again, how wrong we were!

Also our consultant so far has been rubbish. Basically because we have a dc his attitude is that we should be able to conceive again. Not helpful!

My dh's morphology was 3%. We were immediately worried but the consultant said it was nothing to worry about as count was good

My OH's morphology is 2% and the consultant at the fertility clinic said that was very low. The useless GP said it was ok, shows how much he knows.

My understanding is that morphology should be 4% and up. Which is better than if it should be 50%! At least we aren't too far off...

Morphology seems to be a bit of a wild card really, no one seems too sure about it and how it affects fertility. For some men low morphology seems to be an issue, for others not so much. I was more concerned by the motility. But I guess if they all have two heads they probably aren't going to swim well!

Trying to decide whether or not to go down the assisted conception route.

Yes we're not that far off too and my husband morphology did go up from 1% to 2% with some lifestyle changes. The consultant told him to cut alcohol completely and see if it helps. He has the next SA booked for 3 weeks time. I'll let you know how it goes. The consultant said if the morph doesn't improve then its straight to IVF.
