Confused by when ovulating

Hello

I'm usually around 36 days (though not entirely sure as had 2 fairly early mc in last 5 months lucky me). I thought ovulation usually happened around 2 weeks pre AF so in my 5 week cycle case would be 3 weeks in.

I'm now 2 weeks in and have a smiley on opk. Hoorah! But is this normal? Maybe my cycle is shorter than 36 days or have I got my facts wrong? Am a bit confused.

Before I've just looked out for cm to know, but stupidly have only been tracking AF not ovulation.
