Irregular cycle doing my head in

That's all I wanted to say really.

I don't know when to test or when I am ovulating. BFN so either AF is taking her own sweet time, or it's too soon to tell. In some ways I'd be relieved if she turned up and then we could try again next month!

Someone at work announced her pregnancy today so I'm feeling selfishly down and frustrated about it all, just needed to vent.

I'm venting too. My cycle has gone demented these past few months. We're TTC, but it's all up the left.

I'm trying to think positively, at least we don't have the 2WW, it could be any amount of time!

I had a BFN 5 days ago. Depending on whether the last spotting was ovulation bleeding or a period I'm either 5 days late or tested a week too early. Pah.

Me too! Irregular last year after coming of the pill and then settled in 30/31 day cycles for 5 months. However last month was 37 days and currently on cd40 Confused

Like beela just wish AF would show so we can get on with trying again!

HI all I am in the same boat, my cycle was every 8 weeks then 6 weeks then 36 days, now its up to 41 days again. I'm wondering if this is why I'm not conceiving. I have heard the pregnacare can lengthen your cycle, not sure if its true. I have a weeks supply left then I'm stopping it in case it is true.

ZolaBuddleia · 29/03/2013 18:29

Ooh, didn't know that about pregnacare. I took the well woman ones in my last pregnancy, will swap to those. Am taking vitamin B complex to see if that helps regulate things.

My hormone tests and thyroid test have come back normal from the GP, have consultant appointment in a couple of months. Have a deep seated fear that it's early menopause. Sad

Thanks ladies, it's good to know I'm not alone Smile

Previous cycles have been 40, 51, 36, 34, 46 - no pattern at all! AF turned up with a vengeance this morning (day 47). I'm going to take a leaf out of Zola's book though, and think positive. I can eat, drink, and be merry all over the Easter weekend, and then we can start trying all over again Grin

If you already have DC, did you have an irregular cycle when you got pg and how long were you TTC? Our DS was a lovely surprise, we weren't TTC and he was conceived on week 7 so I was sure AF was due any minute (hence the lack of protection!).

TTC #1 so all new to me. Had been on the pill for 11years previously so barely remember my 'normal' cycle.

Also taking Pregnacare but have been for 9 months now, so not sure it is to blame. Been reading around and thinking of seeing an acupuncturist. Anyone had any experience of acupuncture to help with regulating cycles?

Happy Easter [busmile]

My cycle used to be regular, to within a day or two. It's only the past few months where it's gone awry, but the frustrating thing is, it's only been the past few months that DP has actually been up for the idea of us having another DC.

When you say 'week 7', do you mean it was 7 weeks since your previous period? Shock

Report
beela · 30/03/2013 13:29

Yes! And then it took another 5 weeks for me to twig something wasn't quite right Blush

Hoping to be slightly more tuned in this time round.

I had a very irregular cycle for years - ranging between 30 to 42 days. Not sure if it was a direct cause/effect thing but it improved and stabilised quite a bit on Pregnacare.

FWIW, we tried TTC for 3 years and finally, on our first appt. with fertility consultant, were told I was already pregnant Shock! Now at 33wks and very grateful for every crappy symptom!

Good luck!

beela, were you getting EWCM at the time you conceived? I haven't got a clue whether or when I'm ovulating as it's all so messed up.

Zola I don't know, I must admit that as we weren't ttc I wasn't really paying much attention Blush

My cycle has always been irregular but usually 5-7 weeks so I had been expecting AF for about a week and didn't really think about getting pg. DH and I had been having a bit of a dry spell, so I know it was definitely then that I conceived. That's why I am getting frustrated by it now - never had to think about ovulating or cycles before, by the time we thought about having a baby it was already a done deal! DS is 2.5 now, and like you I've only recently persuaded DH that we should try for #2.

TwoMs I had acupuncture while I was pg last time, I was referred by the midwife because she thought DS was breach (I don't think he was) but it really helped with my swollen ankles and was surprisingly relaxing. I know that doesn't help with your qn, but I would definitely consider going again, and after reading your post I have discovered that the lady I went to also specialises in fertility stuff... interesting.

Thanks beela all interesting to know. Have found someone in my area that states acupuncture for infertility on her website. AF arrived today so will contact her tomorrow and discuss things with her.

Fx for you this cycle Smile

Yay for other people who get this. AF arrived today on cycle day 42. Previous cycles of 44, 50, 33, 66 days.

Have been to see my doctor and blood tests results should be in this week and I'm currently waiting on an ultra sound appt to see if PCOS is a possibility,

Every time I see folk moaning about the 2 ww I'm like this Confused as surely that's better than a 'god knows how long wait'???

Also from family members yesterday 'we're a very fertile family, everyone gets pregnant as soon as they want to' ...... Do fuck off.... I know for a fact that's not true!!

Apologies if this is TMI for anyone, but does anyone else get random staining? It's definitely more than spotting, but mostly brown.

Hi everyone. I just noticed this thread so thought I might as well say hi as I also have stupidly irregular cycles. My story is that I came off the pill in around 2007 after 10 years, didn't have a period for 8 months & was diagnosed with pcos. Started ttc in Jan 2009 and fell pregnant immediately (on a very long cycle) but had a mmc at 12 weeks. Then no period for about 3 months. Doctor gave me progesterone to induce a bleed and fell pregnant with DD straight after. However since last Jan I've been ttc and had 2 more mc after falling pregnant very easily on very long cycles. However since we've been properly ttc again (since Jan 2013) my cycles have gone mad again and were 52 then 36 days. Normal for me is about 35 days I think but had a 32 day one in Dec! We didn't ttc though as had a break cos of mc and really regret it now...

Anyway I have regular acupuncture and it does seem to help but I think maybe stress has caused my cycles to go mad again. I don't even know if I'm ovulating. I thought I knew the signs by checking ewcm but the long cycle in Jan I had 2 lots of ewcm but no AF 14 days later. Then last cycle I had no ewcm but now doing opks and got a positive & AF 14 days later. However I also had brown spotting that cycle. To me that's always a bad sign as I thought it indicated low progesterone but could be a sign of a chemical pregnancy. And have read loads of people having spotting and still getting a bfp

I take a million vitamins and not sure if any help with the cycle. I worry a long irregular cycle isn't good at all. But I have conceived several times and had a successful pregnancy so it must be possible.

But I totally know how annoying it is to never know what's going on. When I hear/read people moaning about waiting until 'next month' I'm just jealous as I never know how long I'll have to wait for. Plus it means loads more dtd so it can get ridiculous if cycle is 52 days!!

Anyway just thought I'd share my story and offer some solidarity!!! I'm currently wondering if/when to see a doctor/demand clomid but not sure if I'm overreacting?

Zola I am having the brown 'spotting' but it seems more than just spotting got cramps on left side but seems to early for implantation and not sure its ov bleeding as never had that before. Have been on pill for about 18 years although came off it to try for and have our son 4 years ago. Why aren't our bods more simple eh! I have posted another thread in here about it all. Sorry to hear everyone is having such a frustrating time with it all too. :0/

Hi everyone,

I am ttc #1 and have been off the pill since December. I have had 24 day cycles since as we were letting things settle before actually trying, but this cycle I am now on day 30 and nothing. Am hoping that it is just a random blip as I really don't know how you can figure things out if you don't ever know when af is due.
It must be a nightmare!!

beela · 03/04/2013 14:47

Tell me about it Frizz, I've just tried to book a smear test, the receptionist told me it should be 8 days after the end of one period and no more than 7 days before the start of the next one. And I should book it in advance. Confused Just going to have a look around for that crystal ball.

No spotting for me, btw.

Yes extremely frustrating! I had to have a blood test on cd 2-3 so made an appointment on a random day which I thought I would be, and AF was nowhere in sight Blush . I then phoned up when AF had arrived (ready to plead with the receptionist) but luckily there was a cancellation so could get it done.

No spotting/staining here either.
