Am I ovulating when I get OV pain?

Ridiculous question at the grand old age of 40 Grin, but I tend to get ovulation pain most months. - I've always assumed that's what it is as it tends to be mid cycle, roughly where I imagine where my ovaries are and is one-sided.

So, when I get this pain, is this actually the point of ovulation? Is this when the egg is being released? Or is this just part of the process and maybe the egg is released later?

[ponders the frequent DTD sessions prior to this pain on sunday...]

TIA if anybody is wiser than me!

Apparently, it's possible to feel different parts of the process. I do actually feel ov. I get a dull ache coming and going from about CD 4, and then on the day of ov I get more intense pain on one side and bloating. I can feel the right side more acutely than the left (and the left one tends to hide during scans so I think it is just further back). I used OPKs and temping to confirm that this pain is ov- it all matched up.

I'm the same as EuroShaggleton (great name btw!), I definitely feel it, and it is always confirmed by OPKS and temp dips on my FF chart.
