Conception

Possible return of endo - going private?

Five years ago I had a lap/HSG privately as a post-ERPC scan (due to infection) revealed an unexplained mass that later turned out to be a cyst. Anyway, during the lap the consultant discovered mild endo and lasered it off.

Fast forward five years, and we're failing to conceive our last. I've conceived six times before within a month or two of trying - conceiving was very fortunately never our issue before, it was me holding onto them although thankfully we do have DC.

It's been over 9 cycles now, and aside from a chemical at the start, not a sausage since. I'm a charting veteran since 2005 and there's little I don't know about fertility supplements and that was before we even started TTC this time. We're doing everything right and then some, and with my history we should have conceived several times over by now. So something has clearly changed and appears to be getting worse, whatever it is.

My hormones check out okay except for not-great progesterone on day 21 (it was 28.05 and they like to see 30 to say definite ovulation). DH is going for an SA on Friday privately as the NHS waiting time was two months.

But I cramp badly every month for several days before AF shows up, it's often very painful. Sometimes I cramp from as early as 4dpo. I also spot for about four days beforehand, occasionally more.

I'm wondering if it's the endo come back, or perhaps something else because I have had two uterine surgeries (TAC, ELCS) since conceiving our DS 2.5 years ago.

Either way, I don't fancy my chances of getting an HSG or anything on the NHS any time soon as we already have children. However luckily we do have private health insurance through Cigna thanks to DH's work.

They don't cover anything fertility related of course, but could I justify a lap/HSG to them on the grounds of my pre-AF pain and spotting? And if so, is anyone able to recommend a private consultant in the London-ish area (we are in Hertfordshire) who specialises in endo?

Thank you!! Thanks
