Ive been TTC for just over 2 years now, have cut down on drinking a lot but we're on our last 3 cycles of clomid and I feel like I should quit altogether to give us the best chance..

Im 32 though and always have things on - birthdays, nights out etc. How do you do it when you're so used to drinking socially ??

And please dont say if I wanted a baby bad enough I would as theres nothing I want more in the world !!

I cut out alcohol totally for several months last year out of desperation. It didn't achieve anything other than making me miserable. Given how many people I know were trollied when they conceived, I really struggle to believe that it makes a difference.

That said, I don't drink much these days anyway. All of my friends are sprogged up, so I have no drinking buddies anymore!

2 years would be a long time to abstain from drinking. I'd say as you've cut down that's good enough.

Has your partner cut down too? My understanding is that it has an effect on sperm mobility.

Yes my boyfriend has cut down as well, I've started feeling guilty if I have a drink when I'm out which is no fun also! Hmm

Don't feel guilty. You don't need to put your social life on hold. You could adopt a 2 week on 2 week off approach were you stop drinking during the two week wait. I doubt very much that alcohol is causing any problems. My friends spent about 2 years ttc. They were due to start ivf so thought they'd have a big blowout weekend before sensible diet and drinking for the ivf. Their daughter was conceived that weekend! Grin

Fingers crossed this will be your lucky month.
