i'm reaching the end of my ivf and in a few more days i will be ready for EC. I'm so so nervous, i really don't know what to expect and i'm equally nervous about the embryo transfer too. I have a nice lot of folicles which is good, just hope and pray i have some nice good quality eggs. I'm scared about being put out, never had to go under before...i know its only 30mins but i need some reasurrance...help ladies...i know its an exciting time but also a very nervewracking time. DP is convinced its gonna work whereas after 5yrs ttc i'm more realistic to the fact it may not work and we have to try again. Just so excited to have reached this point and although ivf is very trying its not as bad as i expected. anyone else in my position in here xxx

I was worried about mine having not been 'put to sleep' before. But honestly -I've had it done twice now - and it's probably the best bit of the whole damn process ! One minute you are awake - the next minute it is over ! I had sedation (as opposed to GA) for mine - and I was instantly up and feeling fine. In fact, couldn't wait to have the lunch they provided after (a nice egg mayonnaise sandwich if you are interested !). I've seen my notes from the first procedure and the whole thing only took about 15 minutes from start to finish (even though it could have been 15 minutes or 15 hours for all I knew !)

All the very best of luck to you xx

Thankyou, missbrightside, i think the worst part is just waiting for it all to be over and wondering how many eggs they have collected. I'm not allowed to eat from midnight night before so i'll be straving when i can finally eat something. egg mayo sounds very appealing. Good luck to you too, are u on the 2ww?? xx

I did donation so had a lot less riding on it than you, but the procedure was ok! I had sedation too and it was so weird, one minute I was awake, then asleep, then wide awake again!
I took the day after off work and spent most of it asleep, so hopefully you can do that.
Good luck x

I went through IVF back in sept. I was really nervous about the egg collection but it was a breeze. The most painful but was having the cannula put in the back of my hand. It was over and done before I knew anything about it. I was only sedated rather than GA. I remember sort of coming around just as it was finishing asking how many eggs they got and did they check properly!!

I had egg mayo sarnie when I came around too, maybe that is part of the process!

Sharksandfishes we are now heading down the egg donor route ourselves as my own are too poor to achieve a pregnancy. It is all down to ladies like you that ladies like me are given the chance to be a mum, thank you so much.
