HELLO all! Been trying for nearly a year now. Irregular cycles and just getting blood tests done........stupidly thought they were a hang over from stopping pill but doc doc says not.anyway in a couple of Weeks my friends baby is having a first birthday party. Now I love seeing them and my other friends babies generally but this is an interactive type party...think ceramic painting or an organised thing.....and everyone else apart from grand parents will have at least one baby or toddler. So my question is do I go (bearing in minds af is due two days before and i'm not feeling lucky) or do I make some excuse?

Oh no! I have this problem on a regular basis, I had 5 godchildren and a lot of friends with babies, birthday parties, christenings and the only one without a baby, sometimes it's totally hideous, sometimes its ok it depends on my frame of mind (ie if I have just come on AF etc...) I tend to always try and go, plaster a smile on my face n then have a cry after but make sure there is a glass of wine waiting for me when I get home! X

I can cope with most baby things...even birthday parties but the interactive element of this one gives me the heebies! Its very baby orientated rather than adults chatting etc.
And whilst i'm on a moan...why oh why do people forget what it was like before baby? That non babied people really don't wasn't to hear about every single thing all the time...he blew a bubble, blinked, winked etc wonderful....

I think you have to suck it up, put on a brave face and then eat your body weight in chocolate when you get home.

It's impossible to avoid these situations altogether, particularly when you're in the "long term TTC" boat.

I'm in a similar position, my best friend gave birth to her first child earlier this week and I'm likely to see them this weekend. I've been TTC for 2.5 years without success but thankfully she knows my situation so if I end up sobbing on her she'll understand.

Chocolate will be at the ready...I suppose I could 'borrow' a baby from a cousin to go with otherwise I'll be feeling faintly ridiculous :) you're right of course about not putting life on hold indefinitely etc.happy about my life in general but would love love love to be the one throwing parties etc.
Still at the moment we are flexible and enjoying travelling and sleeping so got to look on the bright side!
