I'm a newbie on this forum, so please be gentle!
My partner and I are planning to ttc our first child soon. Have been putting things off for a while because I'm studying for a Master's, but I'm slowly realising there's never a right time! However, I've had pretty irregular periods for the past couple of years (I'm 32) and, having putting this down to stress for a quite a while, I recently saw a doctor about it. I've now been referred for blood tests to check my hormone levels, and for an ultrasound scan. I do bleed every month, but my periods are very light and short (2-3 days max) and cycle can be anywhere from 21 to 29 days (I know this isn't irregular by some standards, but it's unusual for me!). The doctor did mention possible PCOS, and said that if i wanted to ttc I should get on with it sharpish in case we experienced problems.
So anyway, now I'm a bit worried about it all. Would appreciate advice on how to proceed from anyone who's in the same boat - irregular periods or PCOS. Have lots of vague notions about the whole conception thing, but am a bit clueless really - for example, how do I know when I'm ovulating? Any stories from people in a similar boat would be very welcome!
