Want to ttc at end of year- when to have implant removed??

I want to ttc dc2 from December onwards- for various reasons, mainly I want a minimum age gap of 3y between dcs, ml reasons etc.

Would I be best to have implant out now and use condoms or wait until dec? I have heard with pill there is a surge of hormones when you come off and you are v fertile but not sure if this is the same with implant?? On the other hand I have heard it can take 6 mo for implant hormones to leave system?

I was on pill before dc1, had to come off as started to have migraines, so used condoms and then conceived ds on first cycle of ttc. I know it might not be as easy next time though. I am almost 29. Tia!

I'd have it out now, just in case. You just never know how long it may take to get back to normal.

While you could be lucky, there's no guarantee.

I know I am still in two minds about the surge of hormones thing though

I don't think there is the same surge of hormones when coming off the implant compared to the pill. I know everyone is different but my experience was I had my implant removed in July last year, started TTC in Aug and managed to conceive in Nov. So i would probably suggest having it removed in the next month or so to give your body the change to get back into a normal cycle but use condoms if you really don't want to conceive before Dec.

I had implant removed last August, started ttc late November and got Bfp mid December. Now have gorgeous 9 day old ds2 snuggling on my lap.

With DS1 I had implant removed in July ttc started straight away and got my Bfp in november.

I had the 2nd implant removed early as we knew we wanted to start ttc at the end of last year but we were getting married and my arm was bruised and scarred for a couple of months after the first one was removed.

So actually took the same amount of time from removal to getting pregnant both times.
