EWCM and temperature increase several days apart - any thoughts/advice?

Hi all, we've (age 29) been TTC for about 8 months and I've been charting. I came off the pill last December after 13 years. My cycles seemed to get into a decent rhythm (34 days with OV at CD21) but then in July it took until CD27 (41 day cycle) and the same this month.

This month I noticed that I had EWCM at CD22 and 23 but it was not until 4-5 days later that my temperature increased to indicate OV by which time the EWCM had stopped and gone back to white-ish which I thought meant that I wasn't still fertile.

I was just wondering whether anyone had had this or whether it is/suggests a problem?

Thanks

I may have misunderstood you, but as the rise in temp happens after ovulation, then that all sounds about right to me? As soon as you have ovulated, then your EWCM dries up - AFAIK, it's the days leading up to OV and the day itself when you get EWCM.

does this help? - www.justmommies.com/articles/bbt-charting.shtml

Hope someone more knowledgeable than me comes along soon.

Hi fruitybread, sorry I wasn't clear.

The EWCM has dried up several days before OV is detected so I have days of whitish CM before the actual OV (which is less hospitable to the sperm and makes it more difficult for it to get where it needs to). So the two fertility signs are about 5 days apart rather than at the same time as you'd expect.

It sounds fine to me - EWCM to help the swimmers get to the right place, then ov, then the temp rise caused by the progesterone released by the corpus luteum once the egg has been released.

Cool, I just wanted to check as EWCM was always just before and at OV whereas this time it's finished 5 days beforehand which is longer than the sperm can survive (or is pushing it). Thanks
