i usually take my BBT at 7.30 or a few minutes before but today woke at 7am and took it a few minutes later just to see what it was. I lay in bed until 7.25 and took it again, there was a considerable difference. I hadn't moved or dunk anything in that 20 minutes. What's best to use the first or the later??
also as an aside i've done an experiment before where i took temp at usual time, got up to go to the loo and went back to bed , checked it again and it was exactly the same- weird how it can fluctuate sometimes so wildly and other times not!!

take the first temp. Movement can make your bbt increase. It's only half an hour so it shouldn't be radically different from what it would have been if you didn't wake up.

I agree, take the first one. Yes it's a bit strange that sometimes it fluctuates a lot and another times not. I've taken my temp more than once on a couple of occasions and it was confusing. Guess that's why they say not too! On the timing, personally I still find a clear pattern in my temps even if the variation in time is an hour or more. My other observation is that FF only seems to mark mine as at an irregular time if it's more than 40 mins or so.

Yes I agree use the first temp. Being awake is enough to change the temp quite a lot for some people. Once you've temped for a while you'll get the hang of what makes a difference for you and what doesn't. But even if the first temp is a bit lower than usual because it was earlier the chart should still be clear enough and you can make a note of when you took it in case it does end up looking a bit out of line.

thanks for that everyone. I'll use the first then.
