Hi all, I recently went for my 21 day bloods (which I worked out to be day 24 as I've had slightly longer cycles these last couple of months) and I called for the results on Mon. The receptionist said there was 'no further action required and the test confirmed ovulation'. However I got in from work tonight, and there's a letter saying I need to go for 'fasting bloods, ASAP' where I have not eaten for 12h beforehand. This cant be related to the 21 day bloods, as it's day 30 now(!) Confused
Has anyone else been for this test, following the 21 day bloods? Is it testing for something entirely different? I'll call the docs as soon as it opens tomorrow, but I'll prob not get to speak to her til next week, and tho the receptionists are lovely, they 'aren't medical' as they tell me every time I bombard them(!!) Any advice, similar stories appreciated ! TIA.

The only fertility related test you might have to fast or (that I can think of) is prolactin levels.

I had five lots of bloods taken at the same time as my day 21 bloods, one of which meant I couldn't eat twelve hours beforehand. The fasting relates to testing your blood sugar levels as I understand it. It's possibly something that they should have taken blood for at the same time as your day 21 but missed out. Try not to worry too much, as it was explained to me that it was a precautionary test to make sure they didn't miss anything. Good luck x

Thanks for the responses, and the good luck!! Sounds like it may be testing for something different to the 21 day one then. I'll update when I speak to the doc!

Just an update for completeness. My 21 days bloods showed a sugal level of 6.4 - over the acceptable 6 threshold, and they always have to get a 'fasting blood test' done when anyone is over 6. So nothing to do with TTC. Blimey there's nothing makes you more paranoid than TTC! Good luck all.
