Hi all! TTC #1 and have been off the pill since the end of October. Before the pill I was super regular and my first cycle was 26 days. I'm currently CD29, did a test this morning which was (as I was expecting) negative. DH and I are wondering if that means I'm def not pg this month or if there is still a chance? I'd've thought a negative is a negative, especially as AF was due yesterday....TYIA x

Hi,

I'm no expert on the pill, so I'm sure someone will be along who knows more. But I have to say from what I've read on MN, the pill can really mess up your cycles for a while after you come off of it. Even if your were super regular before going on the pill.

I think coming off the pill could affect when you ovulate which would in turn affect when your period shows up.

That's not much help is it! I guess the answer is that it might not be a definite no, just because you got a negative test. It's hard to know when AF is 'due' after the pill unless you're monitoring your ovulation too.

Good luck though! Hope you're not waiting long, or even better that you're pg now and just yet to convince a pee stick Wink

It's never over until the fat lady sings. It could well be that you ovulated late, so that would mean that your period isn't yet late. You haven't been off the pill that long so it might be that your cycle hasn't settled down quite yet. I'd give it another week.

Hi knickers!
just thought I'd share my story with you. I came off the pill on 28th October, had my usual withdrawal bleed and now nothing. I am currently on CD58 and there is no signs of AF. POAS several times but all negative. I used OPKs up until CD24 but never got a positive so decided to stop using them as I was driving myself crazy. Before I was on the pill, which was about 13 years ago, I was completely regular. I have decided not to get worried about this, I have been on MN for a while and a lot of the other ladies say that it took them a few months to get back to normal. In the mean time there's no harm in keeping up SWI as I read in Zita Wests book that some women get a fertility surge when coming off the pill.
Anyhoo, just thought I'd share my story with you as it helped me to know that lots of women went through the same experiences and then went onto have have happy and healthy DC.
Good luck with your TTC journey. Smile

Really busy at the moment so i haven't got too much time on my hands to think about it. Plus we're not meant to be actively TTC until spring, we're currently doing the whole "not planning, not preventing" method until then. I always knew my body could take a while to adjust after spending so many years on the pill. Some women get back to normal cycles straight away, others may take months or even a year or two. That's why we have decided not to get too hung up on it now and allow my body time to adjust. If AF doesn't appear soon then I will get it checked out at the docs, think I'm a little scared that something is wrong, but for right now I'm happy in my bubble of denial. Plus no AF over the festive season! Smile

A BFN is not conclusive. Test again in a week if still no AF.

Hi frilly, I'm in a very similar situation. Came off my pill 15th nov and had AF. Since then nothing! I keep getting pains/cramps and I'm now on cd32, I POAS yesterday morning just to see and got a BFN. I really don't think I'm
Pg but I don't know when I ov.

We are ttc %232 but it's been a long time since last pg in 2004!

It is totally normal to not get a period for quite a while after coming off the pill. You have basically been on hormone replacement therapy and it takes a while for your body to crank back unto gear and start producing its own again.

The first time I came off the pill I had no period for 6 months. This time they came back straight away but were all over the shop with a very short luteal phase for a few months. They are only recently stabilising. I was told that up to a year is quite normal for everything to get back to normal.

Best of luck with Ttc!!

p.s. I found acupuncture quite helpful for sorting out my cycle
