I have a 3 year and a half year old daughter and my husband and I have been trying concieve again for 2 years now. I only have a period every 6 months and if I don't have one within the next 2 weeks I am going to be sent to gyno by my doctor. I am just so desperate now if I managed to concieve my daughter after a month why can't I do it again? I wake up thinking about being pregnant. Think about it all day go to sleep thinking about it and dream about it...
If I see a pregnant person (We counted 30 just on the way to the preschool a few days ago) I well up and occasionally actually cry.
I'm so down. Just not sure how to cope anymore

Bless you. I understand (as many do on here!) How frustrating it is ttc with no joy 18 months here!).
I think you need to push for the gynae referral regardless. One af in 6 months just isn't right. Could be pcos causing.this, were your periods irregular before you got pg with DD? Depends on where you are in the country but you should be entitled to some investigations due to so few periods as this had the potential to cause long term health problems. Get a GP appt this week and DEMAND a gynae referral. Sounds like you need it for your health and your mental health! Good luck, keep us posted!

Hi Bianca,

So sorry you are going through this. With such long intervals between your periods it is pretty clear that you are having annovulatory cycles. The two most common reasons for this are PCOS and thyroid issues -- both of which your gyne will test for. Why are you waiting two weeks? I would get this referral immediately.

If you conceived once, the liklihood is that you will conceive again BUT you have to address the underlying health conditions which are causing these hormonal imbalances in your body. Again, a gyne will help you with this.

I see no point in waiting any longer if you have already been trying for two years. The sooner you see a specialist the quicker you will be on your way to having that much-longed for baby!

Best of luck to you!!
