Can period be delayed if I've had an illness?

Hallo ladies..

Have had a cold for the last couple of months. NOw it gave a shove into a secondary infection. Had a chest infection (which I have taken antibiotics) and it's now cleared. I still have sinusitis that refuses to budge.

Anyhoo... I Ovulated on time (the smiley face on the predictor stick said so). Due on today. No sign of AF. Will my illness DEF delay my period? Is it too early to test?

What's the verdict?

I have found that illness, stress and loosing weight can stop my period.

I am not sure if this is good news or bad news to you though.

Illness does not delay your period. But it can delay ovulation and therefore make your period arrive later than it would usually.

The smiley face only shows the hormone surge before ovulation, doesn't confirm you actually ovulated.

So you may have ovulated late.

Or you may not have ovulated at all.

Or you may be pregnant.

Do a test. Grin

Thanks for that! :)

Have been TTC for a long time now.
If anything is wrong there cant be that much wrong as I know I, at least, produce the hormone surge to ovulate. If nothing happens by Xmas I am to go to the docs.

Too early to do a test now do you think?
And is it better to do the test first thing in the morning?
