had my jab in my bum today and asked nurse about stopping it so dh and i could try for baby number two. She said it'd take about six months for periods to begin again. Was on pill before and came off in august had two periods and then tried and bingo baby one, now 13mths. Is six months normal for the depo to come back on line sts? what are your experineces please?

I stopped the depo and didn't have a period for 1 year. The nurse at my fpc said she wouldn't recommend depo at all for anyone thinking of starting a family within 2 years!!

..but everyone is different, so you may be ok. The way each woman reacts to hormones is unique so it may not be much use to you asking everyone else - they'll all be different. The fact that you 'cuaght' after only 2 m off the pill should be encouraging as it shows your body is quite adaptable to hormonal changes. The vlues to my reactions to depo were there already really - LOTS of side effects when on the pill, bad pmt and the fact that the depo took 1 year to get out of my system.

I had last depo inj December, which ran out in March, had slight bleed in May, then proper periods June and July. I then found out i was pregnant in August and am now 11 weeks, so there is luck for some of us, i was also told it could take upto 2 years to get pregnant. I wouldn't bother with ovulation kits as i was using them since March and never showed me as ovulating, i used to take my temperature every morning and that showed when i had ovulated. hope all goes well.

I had the depo jab once and it made me feel so ill that i ended up having blood tests to see what was wrong with me. I never went back for the second jab but it still took another 6mths for my periods to come back and then another 3 mths to concieve Ds.

I came off depo in May 2003 and didnt get a period till October 2003 and didnt concieve till April 2004 even though we were actively trying.
Doctors told me that its normal to take up to a year to start ovulating again normally if you have been on depo for more than a year.

i fell pregnant with No 2 on the depo!!!! Although i am having it now as wont steralise me as too young!!!Just have to be very careful if you get my drift!!!!!
I think it depends on how long you have been on the injection regarding you periods etc...
They say the longer in your system, the longer the effect takes to wear off. Although knowing people on it that have come off have all got what they wanted, some in no time and others who had to wait a while.I hope it all works out for you.

Year since coming off depo, just had first mini period !! Yeah .... Still doesn't mean ovaries are working again. In the meantime, still waiting for hospital appointment last seen in august !! not even been given another appointmnet yet.

As doc's are now saying allow two years after coming off depo before wanting a family !!
