Hi, my DD had this operation as a baby. She is now 13, where does the time go?
She had hers done as a day case under a general. They just pass a fine needle through the tear duct and flush some liquid through. They explained that the tear duct is formed from both ends and sometimes doesn't quite form properly and is blocked.
The op didn't take long, and we were home later in the day. The hardest thing was not giving her any food, and being at the hospital so early in the morning.
The op was a complerte success and she has never had any propblems with her eyes since.
Before the op, she had constant eye infections, crusty, weepy red, gunky, sticky eyes and was constantly on eye drops which were a nightmare to adminster.
