MMR, when?

My ds had his first mmr jab at 13 months, and the booster 5 months later.

This was just a few months ago. However, a friend said that her ds is having his booster at 3, as they no longer require it to be done at 18 months. Have looked at NHS website, the schedule is at 13 months and again at 3, but no one told me about this when my ds had his booster at 18 months.

How come? Are all boosters done at 3 now? Don't know much about this, so if someone can please explain.

Thanks in advance.

both dd (6) and ds (3) had theirs at 13 months and dd had hers not long before she started school so around the age of 4. DS is due his booster soon as he is 3. Were mealses, mumps or rubella prevalent in your area when your lo was 18 months old as they may have given the booster earlier for that reason. The first jab leaves 5-10% unprotected and the booster increases the amount that are protected.

I see, thanks seona, it must be that there was an outbreak when he had his second jab. Is that it now for his mmr, or will he have to have it again at 3/4?
