Molluscum - returned after chickenpox.ARRGGGHH!

DD1 has had molluscum for nearly 2 years. A few months ago I started treating them twice a day with Lemon Myrtle Oil. By early sept they had all scabbed and were dropping off and there appeared to be no more, so I thought I had got the body to react to the virus.

Then DD caught chicken pox (which for many also seems to help get rid of the molluscum - acc to some posts on here). Chicken pox has gone and now i can see at least 15 tiny pimples that I am pretty sure are new molluscum. I am gutted. I thought that once the body had reacted to them, then they were on the way out? Is this not the case?

Not sure what to do next.... is it worth me starting the Lemon Myrtle oil all over again, or try something else? Why did they come back again?

can anyone help?
thanks

try pricking them with a cocktail stick dipped in iodine. make a few bleed slightly and then it triggers them to go.

thanks alypaly - that is essentially what happened in aug/sept - the oil made a few of them react and the rest were then triggered. This is why I can't understand why we have a new crop. Unfortunately DD is wont let us pick or prod them (though she will let me put stuff on them, hence the oil)

They are buggars aren't they- dcs had them for 2 years. My ds got some nasty infected ones....then all of a sudden one day they'd all gone. They are left with tiny pinpricks under arms, on chest.

deaddei ........it was the ones that got infected that triggered the others to go,thats exactly what happened when i pricked a few of them with the cocktail stick...it seems to trigger some kind of chain reaction...and then, like you say, they just went.DS1 has a few that have left a really tiny white mark but hes a bloke and it doesnt really show.

jasperc163..i used to work in dermatology and its not the product that triggers them to go,its the physical trauma to them, by pricking hard and causing them to bleed/or picking out that tiny plug of cream coloured yuk out of the middle. That makes them inflame and then they just go in a matter of a couple of weeks..magic!!!!!!!!

alypaly - thanks, yes i understand that. The plug came out and they got inflamed etc. Its just that DD will let us put a product on (which in the end causes trauma to them, just not as fast) but wont let us prick or pick them. She goes nuts if she thinks we are even going to attempt it!

i just used cocktail stick dipped in iodine for DS1 and TCP for DS2. glad you found what works for you, they are horrible little things for them to cope with. Their friends thought they were covered in warts.

the reason they came back is probably post viral, low immunity.
