This is ds2 so you'd think I'd know this stuff... but is it normal for a young baby to look very ruddy? It's his face and torso mostly. He had a bit of jaundice on day 3 which then went away and this is def more red than yellow (whites of his eyes are very white). He just looks a bit beetroot like, not just when crying or agitated.

The health visitor saw him on Monday and commented on it but said maybe it was the jaundice just going... but I think that was gone a good week ago. We are away from home for a few days visiting family so I'm reluctant to bother doctors etc as he seems well in himself - feeding, sleeping, having good wakeful periods.

HV is seeing him again next week but I am just feeling a bit anxious about it.

Thanks for replying. Temp is fine, poo v plentiful and yellow and lots of wee. He seems well in every way except the vivid colour! I just rang my HV and she said to look out for any signs like not waking for feeds, otherwise she'll see him Monday anyway. I guess I will just watch him for any changes.

This is a long shot given this post was so many years ago… but my DS has the exact same conditions as you’ve described! I’m wondering if you can share your experience?

Hi,
after 5 years of trying and ivf we have a lovely girl born on 22nd September.
like you mentioned she looks very pink, especially in her cheeks.
just want to to check what happened to your little one. We are very worried to see if this will go away
thanks in advance
