Why does my 2 and a half year old keep getting worms

Hi everyone just looking for some help, my dd is 2 and a half and I've just noticed she has worms AGAIN. this will be the 5th time in just over a year. Is this normal? She hasn't been the nursery for the past 3 weeks as I have been off work, so I dont know how shes caught them again.

I assume you are treating her with medication to be bought over the counter from the Pharmacy.

Are you thoroughly cleaning everywhere? We had them once and I was told to strip all the beds, hot wash everything and scrub the house. Clean and cut the children finger nails and then repeatedly drill in hand washing (for the thousandth time)

Are you giving the worm medication twice? You need to do one dose then another 2 weeks later. The first dose kills worms but not eggs, the second dose kills the worms that have hatched from those surviving eggs (but are not yet old enough to lay eggs themselves)
Also are you treating the whole family?
Other tips: she should wear pants at night, cut nails short, hot wash all underwear sheets and towels.

Yeah I've done treatment every time and always repeated the dose 2 weeks later. I always strip her bed down when shes had them and she still wears at nappy at bedtime as we're still toilet training.

have you changed the toothbrushes? totally disinfected the bathroom?
no it's not usual to have worms this often.

Have you treated the whole family? Chances are you’ve all got them and reinfecting each other.

Also hottest wash on bedding, towels and underwear, steam clean carpets and soft furnishings. Bleach and boiling water the bathrooms.

Put a pair of knickers over her nappy at night.

Oh bad luck then. Does she suck thumb, bite nails, pick nose and eat ? All make re infection more likely though not sure what you can do about it other than discourage when you see it.
Re nursery- there may be someone there not treating so worth mentioning to staff and asking them to send a note round.
Sandpits and playdoh are apparently notorious for passing them on though I don’t know if that’s an urban myth.
