Painful constipation in 14 m/o -

Hi

Looking for some advice on how to help my 14 m/o with his constipation. It's been 2.5 days since he last done a decent poop with yesterday him only passing what can be described as poo water. He's in a lot of pain with it and even refused his milk at bed time tonight.

Thanks x

Gripe water AND make sure you give him plain warm water to drink daily. Doctor's are telling us that we shouldn't give babies water. Its hogwash. Water and gripe water saved mine from horrible straining and pain. Hope this helps!

If he's passing poo coloured water then he's more than likely got an impaction. You need to go to the GP. If he is impacted, a they'll give you a prescription for Movicol which will clear it out. When he's back to normal, plenty of water and I always found the inside of dried figs were amazing for moving things along! Scrape out the sticky sweet jam like seeds, kids love them.

Ouch is tight. It sounds like impaction. I’d recommend the OOH GP tomorrow for suppositories and Movicol to clear the impaction.

iwunderwhy at 14 months I don't think any DR will argue about giving him water. Pretty sure they say about that just for babies up to 6 months.

OuchLegoHurts and Haworthia Okie dokie trip to the walk in tomorrow! Thank you
