Is this chicken pox?

My 5 year old was sent home from school yesterday with what they had said was chicken pox.
2 of the spots they said she had on her back are actually moles.

She has been a little off colour over the weekend with cold symptoms, but both myself and my husband have had colds this past week.
Her appetite is no worse than normal (she’s not a big eater)
Her temperature is lower then normal (35.6)
She is her usual bouncy self.

These are the spots she has, all look different and they haven’t changed in appearance overnight. She hasn’t developed any more overnight either.

I’m tempted to take her to the dr to have it checked out

Don’t take her to the dr if she isn’t that unwell - 1 you will take up an appointment from someone who needs it and 2 chicken pox is incredibly infectioous, just waiting in the waiting room for 15 mins could infect vulnerable young and old people, including pregnant people.

Yes chicken pox can present with only 1 or 2 spots.

More likely to be hand foot and mouth disease with those spots in those locations as CP tends to start on the trunk/head and work outwards. (And the spots on her back were moles)
Look in her mouth or round her mouth- even for tiny bumps.
Either way don’t go to the drs- she has something that requires her to be off nursery, none of the options require medical attention. Give it a few days and see what spots develop. Rest, fluid and and cuddles for your daughter. NO ibuprofen in case it is CP.

Didn’t want to take her to the dr however having her off school for days waiting for scabs that won’t appear to arrive is not good, we’re going to go crazy.

She’s off school to protect other children and their families from whatever illness she has. Chicken pox can be very mild. Unless you are SURE it’s not, then listen to school who will have seen hundreds of chickenpox cases over the years.

Well it’s not nothing so she is right to be off. It’s clearly some kind of infection and either she will get new spots or she won’t. But she should be off anyway until you know one way or the other and until there are no more spots appearing.

DS was perfectly well with CP but he had plenty of definite spots.

DD had no more than 10 spots but they were obvious big ugly things (she was also pretty unbothered, not ill).

I think I'd ask around among mummy friends to find someone willing to have a look, OP. I can't see your pics well enough; could be warts for all I can see.

Schools rarely have some qualified to diagnose such things but they have to protect their pupils and staff.

If you have concerns about what she has then pop along to the chemist and speak to a pharmacist. If they say it is not chicken pox and not contiguous then put her in her uniform and take her to school.

Looks exactly like dts did at the beginning. 48 hours later they were covered and really quite ill.
