Hi. My 2 week old daughter has recieved diagnosis of laryngomalacia from GP. She has been referred to paediatrician for review to ensure acurate diagnosis. She has respiratory difficulties mainly at night with stridor and laboured difficult breathing but to my knowledge no aponea yet....i was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? How did it, or, how is it progressing, i am worried as she is so small it is going to get worse before it gets better!

Hello mine had this but it was also confused with large adenoids which also gave her breathing problems only at night /in sleep.

If she’s struggling for breath take her to a and e. At 2 weeks I wouldn’t be waiting for a referral but I guess it depends how bad it is. Be aware your gp won’t have seen her at her worst if this is at night so might not understand how bad she is? Did you video it and show them?

Things that help are raising the cot so she’s sleeping on a incline.

Is she snotty? Be careful when she’s got a cold as it gets worse then and really do consider if she needs hospital - nasal flaring and using all of her tummy to breath would indicate she’s really struggling so watch for that
