Constant diarrhea in my 7 month old!

My baby has had diarrhea for the last 3 weeks. No fever, still a pretty hearty appetite, and generally pretty happy! I don't know what is going on. He is EBF and has started some solids. We did a stool sample to test for infection and it came up negative. I've got an appointment scheduled for this week with a gastroenterologist. He's lost a few oz since his 6 month appointment. Now has fallen off the growth chart. He goes to daycare where he is drinking old expressed milk of mine. I'm thinking maybe a dairy allergy? He also had his two bottom teeth come in last weekend and they are still in the process of coming in. Any thoughts? I'm getting nervous here.

Unlikely to be a dairy allergy if it's only been 3 weeks

More likely an allergy to something you've started weaning him on? What solids and other drinks does he have?

We've tried just some basic solids. Squash, sweet potatoes, green beans, apples, bananas, rice cereal and oatmeal. Mostly all purées.

And his diarrhea is very green and full of mucous.

What is his nursery giving him?

Surely at 7 months you are giving more solids than that?

Is his nursery storing and reheating your breast milk properly?

@applesandpears56 He also loves carrots. Other than that, I haven't given him a whole lot of other stuff because for the past 3 weeks his tummy has been obviously upset so I haven't wanted to add too many new foods while still trying to find the cause of the diarrhea. I did try some greek yogurt the other day mixed up with bananas and he liked that.

The nursery is storing and heating the milk properly, I checked on that. He just has BM at daycare and sometimes baby food for lunch.

Check what infection the stools were tested for.

My twins had mucoussy diarrhoea for weeks at about 9 months old. Their appetite was still good. Their stool samples came back clear but after a few weeks, the gp retested and it came back that they had cryptosporidium.

Did he have the Rotavirus vax?

DD1 had Adenovirus at 11 months. It caused 21 days of diarrhoea approx every 2 hours, day and night. It was confirmed by stool sample taken by GP.

some children can develop dairy intolerance after a bug but it's a temporary intolerance, just a kind of irritation of the bowels. It's not an allergy as such. I remember DS had a terrible stomach bug at around 10 months old, and he carried on have diarrhea for days so I stopped dairy for just two/three days and his poos were back to normal after that. But he was on formula at that point, not BM.

Also, I would check with nursery how the breast milk is stored.
