Tooth knocked out

My son (5) managed to pull a tooth out with the top of a floss packet yesterday, I still have no idea how.

I've noticed the tooth next to it is slightly loose (only when touched and he didn't notice it was loose).

I have a dentist appt Monday morning but wondered if anyone had experience with similar, I've read a loose tooth after a knock can reattach if not damaged? Planning to go be him soft food for next couple of days.

Thanks

A tooth can be reattached but not after 3 days! If it is a milk tooth, you will probably have to wait for the definite one.
Meanwhile you need to keep the tooth in milk, but Iam pretty sure Monday will be too late. Any chance of seeing a dentist earlier?

As your son is 5, it will be a baby tooth - which tooth is it? It was probably slightly loose anyway and is likely to come out naturally soon. Probably a good idea to see your dentist on Monday to put your mind at rest, but no need to see emergency dentist.

The dentist won't do anything if it's a baby tooth.

One tooth is most definitely gone forever! I agreed to appt on Monday just to check the gap and possibly an x ray to make sure all ok.

It was only last night I noticed the tooth next to the gap was slightly loose, from what I've read I think it might firm up again, it seemed firmer this morning and there's no discolouration. I've got him on a soft diet for next few days!

I meant loose tooth firm up rather than reattach the lost tooth! My post wasn't clear, washing machine broke the same night as tooth gate so I was still recovering from double trauma!

DS had a wobbly tooth from a fall, and it did kind of get sucked back in and firm up again. Dentist said there might be some discolouration, but so far (fingers crossed) all seems fine.

Doje, how long did it take to firm up? Thanks
