What is this rash?

My 20 month old son started being unwell on Tuesday. He was really off his food, temp was up and down for 48 hours. Took him to the GP who said he had viral tonsillitis and to go back if he got any worse. He didn't get any worse really and started to pick up by Friday however he has now come out in this rash on his tummy and a bit on his back, it isn't raised and it blanches when pressed but just not sure what is causing it. Is it just the virus? He's never had it before with a virus and he's had a fair few!

Scaletf fever was going round his nursery about 2/3 weeks ago, could it be that?

He is much happier in himself and no temp but I'm sort of questioning whether or not to get it checked out? I worry about rashes!

Thanks

I think Scarlet fever feels sandpapery to the touch.

My DDs have had rashes like that and GP usually says 'viral rash' and that would be consistent with him feeling better and fever going - but defo get it checked out if you are worried.

It could be a post viral rash. They come up quickly and normally disappear within a day or so.

Scarlet fever rash is very rough and red.

I'm not a doctor, but I've experience of children's illnesses. If he seems no worse in himself I'd probably keep on eye on it and make a decision tomorrow. If he seems more unwell than before, in any way, I'd call for advice.

I hope he feels better soon, tonsillitis is horrible.

Yeah I had read that it felt like sandpaper. Like I say he is much better now so hopefully it is just viral! I'll just keep a close eye on him!

I took my daughter the walk in not long ago as she had a very similar rash and I did think it might be scarlet fever. They checked her tongue and said it wasn't a strawberry tongue. I.e very red like a strawberry. Rash went a day or two later.
