Could this be cellulitis (photo)?

DD2 started with a cold about 2 weeks ago and then conjunctivitis started last Wednesday. Took her to a walk in clinic at the weekend after taking her to the pharmacy but the Dr there said it's viral and to just ride it out but we were warned to lookout for cellulitis. Since then she's had a fever and she's woken up today with her eye almost swollen shut and has been inconsolable. Does this sound/look like cellulitis? Or am I just being paranoid?

I've got a GP appointment for 10.30. For comparison this is what her eyes usually look like.

I don't know about cellulitis but I would definitely take her in showing him her normal eye picture. My DD has had conjunctivitis plenty times quite bad but never swollen like that.

GP prescribed antibiotic eye drops. The swelling had gone down a lot by the time of the appointment but I showed her the photo and she said the drops should help within about 48 hours. Otherwise the cough, cold and sore throats are all viral so just have to let it take its course.

That sounds promising. We still don't know for sure if my boy had periorbital cellulitis (no one has ever confirmed). His eye started like that, Dr was unsure what it was and prescribed antibiotics drops in case it was conjuctivitis. Next day we got Piriton from another GP and next day he woke up to this. He got prescribed Coamiclave and referred to eye Dr next day (he was showing no other sign of illness). It cleared up pretty quickly and I think we were lucky that he did not get IV antibiotics.
Both his eyes were affected though. And he's since had the beginnings of it again, but because of history got prescribed ab straight away. He was really really snotty though.
Just keep an eye on it as it can be pretty serious. X

She seems to be much better today and her eyes seem to be clear from gunk. I'm thinking maybe something irritated her eye which is what caused it to come up like that but I know how serious cellulitis can be in the eyes so I freaked myself out a little.

I feel so sorry for her, it's been one infection after another. She's had this one for about 2 weeks now and she seems to have a new symptom every day - today it was diarrhoea. Hopefully she'll be on the mend soon enough.

As an aside OP your daughter has beautiful eyes. Glad things seem a little better.
