3yo vaccinations - side effects

DS had his jabs last Wednesday.

Last night. He was very grumpy and went straight to sleep without a story. He woke crying at about 11pm complaining about a sore ear. Slept through until 6:45.

Had breakfast as normal, wasn't too fussed about having some crumpets at about 10am, which is odd, but ate them.
Again, didn't want his lunch, but eventually ate half a sandwich.
He fell asleep on me at about 4pm, even though we haven't had a particularly busy day. After waking he's been very groggy, cuddly and didn't want any tea. Still complaining about a sore ear.

It suddenly dawned on me that he had his injections last week - could these be side effects?

I'm super paranoid as we're going on holiday on Saturday and really don't want him to have a bug or something.

He could have an ear infection unrelated to the jabs. What did he get ? MMR?

Sounds more like an ear infection to me- sorry. Really not likely to be side effects a week later......

MMR can have delayed side effects when each component starts to work which is why I asked if that was one of them. Don't know if it's a recognised side effect though.

He got diphtheria booster, MMR2, polio booster, tetanus booster and pert booster.
We were advised that some symptoms such as swollen glands may appear a week later, I just wondered if the other stuff was linked too.

Sounds like an ear infection, my dd had one at the same age and acted exactly the same. Get him to the gp for some antibiotics and he'll be ok in a few days. What's his temperature like?

Tbh, I haven't taken his temperature, but externally I haven't noticed any hotness radiating from him.
I'll see how he is in the morning and take his temp. and try and get a doctors appointment before we travel.
Typical - why now!
Also, he hasn't been in nursery since last Friday ( not through illness, only does Monday's and Friday's, and it was closed on bank holiday) so hasn't been in close contact with any other kids to catch anything.

I don't have the details I'm afraid OP but I swear that the leaflet we received when we had our DS's jabs at 12/13 months (I know you're talking about 3 years) was full of stuff like: after 5 days, x jab could cause flu-like symptoms; after two weeks, watch out for increased temperature due to Y jab. So honestly I think it's possible it could be the jabs even after a week. But - children (mine at least) get ear inflections all the time and that's worth a pop to the GP to be sure.

Hope his feeling back to normal soon.

DS was right as rain again this morning after a big nights sleep. No complaints about his ear and eating plenty again.
He does look knackered after a day at nursery so possibly just a bit run down!
