Just noticed this on DD's shoulder (2.5yo). Is it something I need to worry about? She is totally well in herself. Had a 24 hour stomach bug on Monday, which was mainly bum focused but she did vomit once. No temperature and she's been fine since Tuesday.

She also fell down 3/4 stairs on Tuesday (DH in charge) and got a couple of very minor bruises on her face from that.

So I suspect it could have been caused by her tumble on carpeted stairs or possibly by the vomit. But obviously have been terrifying myself on google and wonder if I ought to take her to the gp stat.

Thanks.

Yes, it doesn't blanch. But, she is perfectly well. No other scary symptoms at all.

Ds gets this, especially when he's ill with a cold or something. We can't find out why but it's always best to get it checked out first to double make sure.

DS had it before on his face after a particularly awful tantrum. Doctor wasn't concerned.

DD has many tantrums. But as it's on her shoulder blade, seems unlikely to be the raging. She does get regularly yanked around by her brother and squeezed (in love mostly), which could explain things.

But I don't know.

Mine have had this a few times from playing a bit rough - skin getting squashed or pinched when they're wrestling around on the floor/trampoline! When we've had it checked out the doctor was never worried because they were otherwise completely well - no fever etc. If you're worried I'm sure the GP or nurse could put your mind at ease.

Thanks. I've spoken to paed nurse who is a friend. Before saying anything she said "that looks like a scrape on the carpet to me". So suspect it was from her fall down the stairs. It's fading now and she hasn't got any other similar bruises anywhere so hopefully that was the source. Will keep an eye for any recurrences though.
