Toddler and husband's sickness related? (Slightly TMI)

So, our 2yr old fell into a river and swallowed some water. About 36hrs later he started vomiting. He vomited about 6 times over the next 48hrs, no diarrhoea. My husband started vomiting 5 days after our toddler, he vomited twice and then had a few bouts of diarrhoea - all in all the symptoms lasted about 12 hours but he had a headache, chills and weakness for a further 12hrs.

Could the two be related? I'm wondering if DH had a touch of food poisoning but I'm worrying about myself and our other child catching it. I've bleached the bathrooms to within an inch of their lives in the hope nobody else will get ill. It's our eldest child's birthday on Saturday but I'm not sure if should cancel the party incase of infectious viral stomach bug. Don't want to make the guests ill!

If it's a norovirus type thing, from stagnent water etc, then providing you or your other child don't get ill in the next 48 hours, I'd say you'd be ok for the weekend.

Maybe your DH picked it up from your 2 year old. It only takes a tiny amount if the virus to make you sick, much less than is needed to catch flu.

Besides a boil wash of clothing and full scale bathroom and handle bleach, you just have to wait it out.

Having said that, as friend swears by Welches Grape juice if there is any stomach bugs around. Apparently 3 glasses a day prevent the bugs thriving in the gut. Might be worth an order!

Your DH vomiting so long after your toddler means the two are unlikely to be related. I'm an Emetophobic so am up on how people catch this bug. It is possible that your DH has something, and you will know within the next 24-72 hours of his is a bug or food poisoning. I also swear by grape juice.

Well me and my other son are still OK so far, I will wait until tomorrow at least until I start feeling safe though!

I've started buying it, on her recommendation. It's quite pleasant and I make sure we all drink as much as possible if there are bugs floating around. Another frien recommended Braggs Apple avoider vinegar, so I've been adding a spoonful of that to everyone's diluting juice at home. No one has rumbled me yet.

I'd do anything to avoid D&V....anything! I go into full scale alert if I hear anyone has been ill. It's a constant battle to stay sane between October and May....every year.

Fingers crossed for you OP. I'm sure you will both be fine. Hope everyone else is on the road to recovery too.
