Toddler Multi-Vitamin suppliments & diarrhoea

Hi, my first ever thread, and it's to do with diarrhoea, lovely!
Has anyone ever experienced their little one's developing diarrhoea with Multi-Vitamin drops? My DD last year (14 months at the time) seemed to have what the Dr's called Toddler Diarrhoea (never heard of it until then). Lasted about 2 - 3 months. Whether coincidence or not it seemed to start after we changed her vitamin drops. For a while we've been forgetting to give her the drops and recently I've been making a conscience effort to give it to her, mainly because of the Vitamin D required (not going to get it from the sun!!). Since she's been back on it her stools have started changing again like last year's diarrhoea, can make her bum very sore, almost burns the skin. It's Abidec that we're giving her, the NHS recommended multi-vitamin. I'm going to stop giving it to her again and see if improves. Though she needs the supplements as well so if it is the drops I guess I'll just need to make sure she's getting as much as she can from her diet.
Just wondered if anyone else has had experience with diarrhoea & multi-vitamins incase the 2 are linked.
Thanks x

Could you try different ones? There are lots of different brands. The nhs recommend abidec? I thought they sold (and give to healthy start people) their own ones? Could be citrus flavouring or something? I remember my DN at that age couldn't have anything with citrus flavouring in as it gave her very loose stools making her bottom sore.

My DD had the same reaction to the chewable chalky ones. I changed her to Bassett's soft chewy ones and she's been fine.

I found this link as I was searching for some answers to! my lg is now 20 months and was taking abidec vitamins but hated the taste and eventually refused them, So I found bassets strawberry liquid for toddlers about 2 weeks ago we started on them and she has had terrible nappies, It only dawned on me today that it maybe the multi vits so am going to not give them for a few days and see if things improve, She used to have no problems but now she has 2 or more nappies with really loose stools in she seems fine in herself its just a sore bum from all the nappies.

My LB had the same multivitamin and he had terrible diarrhoea and incredibly sore bottom. I’ve since stopped giving him them and he’s poop is back to normal. I’ve been looking round at multivitamins with good reviews as he’s only 16 months old.
