DS2 is 5, he is doing well in reception and is a happy healthy boy. The thing is that he rarely goes to the toilet in time. He doesn't ever have a full 'accident' but will get a wet patch pretty much every day, sometimes more than once. And a few times a week he will do (tmi, sorry) a pea/grape sized bit of poo in his pants. He does it when he is bursting, but can then continue to hold for quite a while. He will never voluntarily go to the loo until bursting - occasionally without a leak. He is not constipated, poos every day no (other) problem.
It seems that he does this because he doesn't want to stop what ever he is doing to go. If doing the wriggle and prompted he will deny needing to go.
This is the same at home and school, but worse at school.
He has always been like this to some extent, frequency goes in phrases. I have tried many strategies eg sticker charts, explaining his responsibilities, many others but never get cross.
He does get embarrassed about it, but not so much that he goes to the loo in time.
He claims that he can't feel the urge to go until it is urgent, and at this stage I am thinking maybe he can't. So I should take him to the doctor. But if this is the case what could the doctor do?
Advice and suggestions welcome...
