Baby fell off the sofa!

I feel awful. My almost 6month old just fell off the sofa. She seems fine, and has had a bit of a play and fallen to sleep. She was on the sofa surrounded by pillows. I turned around for 5 seconds to clean her high chair and turned around just as she fell. I did manage to kind of catch her but she did have a bit of a bump on her head. I'm a first time mum and will inevitably make mistakes, I just feel horrible!

Does anyone else have these experiences?

I think you'll find everyone else has these sort of experiences. I have 3 kids and all of them fell off a bed/sofa etc when small (you'd think we'd have leanred, wouldn't you??).

It's horrible when it happens though!

I feel even worse because my HV told me that if I left her there she would fall off and I never thought she would.

Lesson learned!

Ha, welcome to the real world.
My daughter fell off the bed as a baby and bashed her head on the radiator Shock
She is 14 now and has no lasting damage Grin

It's a right of passage I think.

Now you know she's on the move and can't be trusted to stay in one place.

Yep, DS fell off the sofa on my watch and down the stairs on my husbands (I still feel sick even thinking about that). We still feel guilty for both but even with the best will in the world it only takes a few seconds lapse in concentration.

I think she'll have to spend all day on the floor from now on!

Dd fell off the bed twice in the space of an hour when she was a baby! Don't worry about it.

Dd was 3 weeks old and I twatted her head on the car door when I was taking her inside. I frequently whacked her head off doors when carrying her around and she has made many many many dives off the sofa and bed. She's nearly two now and has suffered no ill effects. She's a bit of a daredevil so usually has a bruise on her noggin Grin

When I was a baby my DM used to change me on top of their chest of drawers against all recommendations. Guess where I was when I learned to roll over...

No lasting damage though Grin apparently we just looked at each other shocked for a few seconds then she picked me up and finished changing me on the bed!

When I was a young toddler my mum took me on the bumper cars at the fair and I fell out! Apart from now hating bumper cars, I'm ok!

Don't worry op I'm sure your baby is fine.
