Sleepy 8 week old

DD is 8 weeks old and has been exceptionally sleepy today. She's usually quite alert, but has spent most of the day asleep. I have woken her up to feed her which I didn't usually have to do. Has had one small dirty nappy and 3 or 4 wet ones so far today (breastfed, so it's not unusual for her to have some days with minimal poo, and some days with lots) No temperature, no excessive crying.

Should I be worried, or just enjoying the peace and quiet?

Don't they have a leap around 8 weeks? I know leaps can make them extra tired. When dd was very very young she'd occasionally have outstandingly sleepy days and as long as everything else was well I'd just enjoy the peace Smile

Thanks apples I'm probably worrying over nothing. It's so hard to know what's normal!

Is she easy to wake up? I think I'd call nhs/OOH if she isn't waking easily.

Our little one just did exacty this at eight weeks - almost going back to newborn amounts of sleep. I checked with HV and it's a big developmental phase which temporarily wears them out - his feeding also went haywire for a few days. And then all back to the previous pattern just as suddenly. So it's perfectly normal and nothing to worry about (easier said than done I know!).

I don't remember this with my DS who's 9 months old.
I'd keep a close eye definitely. I know early symptoms for lots of nasty stuff is lethargy, difficult to rouse, very sleep. I'm sure it isn't and other posters are right but still keep an eye out for any other differences like temperature etc

She wakes up fine if I pick her up or move her, and seems as alert as normal when she is awake, she's just been asleep a lot today. She's fed well once awake, and has had plenty of dirty and wet nappies. I've just checked her temperature and it's still fine. I will keep a close eye on her, but it's blooming typical that tonight is the first night since she was born that DH has had to go away with work!
