baby's head always 'bobbing'

My son is currently 8 months old and for the past few months his head constantly bobs about in a 'no no' motion. It stops if he is lying down or concentrating on something but is otherwise constant. I'm really worried. I will take him to the doctors on Tuesday but was just wondering if anyone had experienced similar. He is as far as I'm aware hitting all of his developmental milestones.

What are his eyes doing? Sorry sounds silly asking.
Do his eyes go side to side while doing the head bobbing?

Could be ear related but unusual for it to go on for so long.

Has anyone seen him while he's doing it? HV?

His eyes are normal as is everything else as far as I am aware. No health professionals have seen him yet as I thought it was caused by weak neck muscles at first but I think that should be resolved by now.

Could be spasmus nutans (resolves by itself) but do see a doctor. I would see a paediatrician and also a paediatric ophthalmologist.

Spasms nutans normally have the eyes shake from side to side, that is why I asked.
I would go to your GP, take a video on your phone if you can.
It could just be a Sort of tic, habit,he likes doing it etc.
But really wouldn't hurt to have him looked at.

Hi my daughter had a similar problem when she was about that age she use to twitch her head when she was eating and playing. To her the docs and hv but never done it until one day she sat next to me and was twitching fit half hour and I managed to get a good video and shown the docs and said it was nothing to worry about it was mire a habit than anything serious and she would hopefully stop it in time but if it got worse to take her back but she seemed to stop just before her 1st b day and she is 28 months and doesn't do it anymore. I would record it and show the doctor it won't harm to get it seen to even if it is to put your mind at rest

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely get him checked out. The head movement sounds just like spasms nutans but he doesn't do the eye thing as far as I've noticed. I'll see what my gp suggests.
