Monday morning sickness

An odd one here.

DS3 (just turned 15) has had to have several Mondays off school over the last two or three years due to sickness.

It follows a similar pattern each time - usually wakes up absolutely fine, has breakfast, heads off to school but then starts feeling sick either on the school bus or as soon as he gets to school. He usually just makes the loos in time. This week he was sick as soon as he got up.

He is quite happy at school and has no problems there either academically or socially. I can 100% guarantee the sickness is genuine every time.

I am assuming that it is maybe a reaction to having a large Sunday roast lunch the day before, but can't really understand why this should be when nothing else seems to upset his stomach. No one else in the family has this sort of reaction and he doesn't seem to have the problem on other days of the week.

Any suggestions? I'm hoping it's not going to develop into some sort of IBS-type problem.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I migraine is possible but I would have thought unlikely as he never has any other headachy/light sensitivity symptons.
I had a look at Gastritis and it's certainly something to bear in mind, but he's not on any medication and luckily he's not a teen who goes out drinking (yet) so is unlikely to be caused by irritants.

The idea of having to get up earlier after a weekend of lie-ins is a very good one. He does sleep in a little but generally only to about 9ish, so getting up for school at 7.45 shouldn't be too much of a shock to the system.

I'm starting to note down exactly what we've had to eat the previous day to see if there is any pattern there. Maybe he finds roast chicken or something upsets him?

Monday morning blues? Despite having no social issues it could well be something psychological? Does he have anything different for breakfast on Mondays? Or something he doesn't eat over the weekend but then goes back to on Mondays?

My brother had gastritis when he was about 10. He wasn't going out drinking/ on meds either......

Gilbert's syndrome? My DS had similar where every couple of weeks he would be sick, only issue to show up was elevated bilirubin level, it is not thought to be serious and he seems to have stopped throwing up. Could be high fat content of Sunday dinner means liver has trouble processing that?

DS is also prone to anxiety at times so I didn't quite rule that out as the cause.

Apologies brett. I'll look at gastritis more closely.

Ruby - this is the kind of thing (the higher fat levels) which I wonder about. The timings just seem too much of a coincidence otherwise. I'll also have a look into this. Thanks.
