Could this be something other than chicken pox?

DS2 has had a few blistery spots on his body (back of neck, bottom, and a few dotted around) as well as some which have scabbed over on his head.
I thought it was chicken pox as he was ill last week and one of his peers at nursery has had it within the last couple of weeks so it sort of fits

The only thing I'm not sure about is that he doesn't seem to be very unwell (a bit clingy, but not very poorly) and he has developed a pin prick rash on his whole body.

My other DC have both had chicken pox and have shown no symptoms of anything but what is the pin prick rash? Could it be a viral rash caused by chicken pox? I'm confused!

Children are not necessarily ill with cp, in fact they are more likely to be under the weather before. Ds1 went down with it yesterday and is a bit under the weather, but not I'll. He has been complaining of a sore throat and earache on and off since Tuesday. His spots are starting tiny and gradually growing. Sounds like your ds1 does have cp from what you have said and I would definitely treat it as such unless it becomes obvious it isn't.

Just in case anyone else searches this DS had hand foot and mouth which presents itself in a similar way to CP.

Blistery spots (smaller than CP) that crust over and a rash on his body. Cold, etc.
