Could this be chicken pox?

How quickly does it come up? Ds was sent home from childcare yesterday as they said he looked like he had chicken pox spots. He's got about three that look as if they have a tiny amount of fluid in. But they also said that if it is, lots more spots will come up quickly. This morning he doesn't seem to have any more. He also has a couple of patches of tiny red pin prick rash (which disappears when you press it), but no temperature or other symptoms?

Does this sound like chickenpox? Do the spots come up that quickly, or should I expect more to come up in the next few days?

I've looked on google images, the three spots do look like them, but nowhere near as extensive as the pictures

Some people only have a few spots with chicken pox, others are covered.

What you have described does sound like it

Where are the spots? It could be hand foot and mouth. The spots are similar but smaller. Often occur on genitals and thighs too.

My 5 yo DS started with just a few spots and I thought (hoped) he was going to get a mild case as on day 2 he still had only about 12 spots. I wasn't sure for the first 36 hours if it was chicken pox or not. However they then quickly arrived and he is now plastered everywhere - he even has them on the skin of the eyeball, on his tongue, on the cheeks, the eyelids, in his ears, his fingers, toes, soles of his feet, all over his genitals.

This is now day 6 and I am hoping that today he will start to improve. Day 3/4 were his worse days. I do think however that he has got a really bad case as he is just getting over scarlet fever so he probably didn't have much natural defence against this.

Hope you lo is soon better.

The spots are on his tummy and back. He seems fine in himself this morning, and slept well, but it sounds like I did the right thing in getting calamine lotion and piriton yesterday. curious, I hope your ds its feeling better soon.
