How long is DD's D&V bug going to last?

DD (who was 1 today/yesterday) has the awful sick bug that's doing the rounds. Started Mon evening, was last sick thurs but still has the squits. She's been taking fluids (inc some dioralyte) and some bland food but at the moment it all goes straight through undigested.

Saw GP this evening who said she's still just hydrated enough and hospital won't put her on a drip if she's still taking fluids orally anyway. Said they'll do stool sample by Mon if no improvement.

I'm just so worried as she's a little thing and now she just looks so skinny and washed out. She's also v listless and doesn't have the strength to crawl or barely support herself in sitting. She just wants to sleep and when she's awake she screams and writhes in pain Sad

Does anyone have any idea if we can expect an improvement soon?

Bless her. Hope she's feeling better quickly. Marmite on toast helps with an upset stomach (I've found) and we give it to our dc when they have d and v.

Otherwise it's just rest I think. Does she have a fever at all? Give her calpol or nurofen if she does. Hope she's better quickly.

Again no real answers but lots of love. So long as fluids are going in and staying in it will, eventually, pass. Hope there's an improvement in the next day or two. What a beastly first birthday for her!

Thanks everyone, she is a BIT better today. She's managed to eat some porridge/toast for breakfast, some bland snacks and a bit of chicken/veg, and it's all stayed put so far! Is still grumpy/tired but I suspect that will take a while to change while she recovers. Fingers crossed she's turned the corner anyway!

DC4 doesn't like to let himself vomit so the bug gets really set into his system, not unusual for him to keep a bug going for 10-14 days. Only finally clearing with a day or 2 of high fever to burn the microbes up. Very annoying. other DC who can vomit freely (ha! never thought I'd be grateful for that?!) can get over a tummy bug in 36 hours.

Hope she's better soon.
