14 month old DS has unusual poo habits!

Well, not sure if it is unusual, but he's my DS2 and DS1 was not like this, so here goes ...

DS will never do a big poo, only ever tiny smudges. He makes a lot of noise and does a lot of straining but when I change him, there's only a tiny bit. Ten minutes later, he does it again. The biggest I ever get is a tiny thin sausage! He often cries as if it's hurting him too, and as you can imagine I get through quite a few nappies.

I'd think he was constipated, but the poo itself is soft and wet and like normal poo. I have also tried changing his diet and giving him lots more drinks just in case he was constipated, but it didn't have any effect.

Other than this he is happy, healthy, his weight is fine and he does plenty of wee. I'm still breastfeeding him several times during the day and night too and I believe its quite rare to get constipated on breastmilk?

Anyone else had this? I don't want to take him to the doctor if I can avoid it as they have a crappy no appointments system where you have to turn up at the beginning of surgery at 7.30 am and wait with dozens of sick people to be seen at some undetermined point during the day. As you can imagine, this is a total nightmare with children!

He may still be constipated, I think that soft poo can leak around the sides of the hard stuff.

I suspect that you're gonna have to brave that drs waiting room. That's a rubbish system, I have images of people camping outside in the middle of the night to be first in the queue :)

Anyway I hope I'm wrong and your ds is better soon.
