DGS(4) has been diagnosed with this today after five weeks of 'normal' coughing but ok in himself, then two nights of raised temperature and constant CONSTANT every-ten-seconds-kind-of-constant coughing. Been given a blue and a brown inhaler.

Is there anything else we can do to alleviate the coughing (did I mention it's constant?!?) How long do we give the inhalers to work?

It has been a long time. I wonder what happened. But honestly montelukast could have helped.

My son had montelukast but it has a lot of possible side effects.
He now uses a ventolin inhaler at night, an air purifier (we bought one on Amazon for £30) and sleeps on the top bunk - all advised by the consultant.
He also takes an antihistimine every day during the summer.
It's well controlled with these actions.
