I've just been to the dentist with my dd who is not 4 until January. She has a crossbite and the dentist wants to start treating it now. I can't remember what it is called that they are proposing using but it is similar to a brace - a palet and some metal bits that attach to the teeth. It has to be tightened a notch everyday for a couple of weeks and then she'll have to wear it for 6 months. Is it normal for this to be treated so young? If it helps then I'm all for it but I don't want her to be traumatized and put off the dentist for life!

Ds1 has a crossbite and he is 6 he was seen by the orthodontist in July an he wants to wait until his top and bottom 4 adult teeth are through before treating him. Not sure if this is the done thing or not.
