Tired 8 year old (and I'm a bit paranoid)

I wondered if any mumsnetters had seen increased tiredness / out-of-breathness in their children when they were going through a growth spurt? My 8-year-old DS is eating for England at the moment, seems happy and is growing, but is complaining of tiredness, asking to stop and rest etc. He did have a bug (whose main component was tiredness) three weeks ago, so it could be that as well.

The 'out-of-breathness' would worry me more than tiredness. Could he be anaemic?
