Would you conceal an infectious Outbreak?

I am a passionate Brighton Steiner Parent who has vehemently supports the principles of Steiner in recent years to friends , familiy and in my own community. But what I witnessed and experienced last week on the Steiner Summer Camp at Stoneywish Nature Reserve in Sussex was nothing short of a disgrace!

To promote this summer Parent's and Children activity week as a safe and well organised event was a total travesty. To set the record straight I was the concerned parent who alerted Lewes Enviromental Health Department to the sickness and Diarrhoea outbreak at the Camp.

Both my child and I have been ill, so has my parents and neighbour and what did the organisers do ? Simple NOTHING! , they brushed it under the carpet and acted like ostriches " hiding their heads in the sand " and taking no responsibility whatsoever but carried on partying and " being chilled " on a cocktail of drugs and alcohol , whilst their feral children ran amok.

My message to those Steiner Parents who stayed silent and and who I understand have now set up a witch hunt to find the " whistle blower " is shame on you !!!

How bizarre that these seemingly reasonable and intelligent people have sought not to demand answers from the Organisers but to collude in a cover up which put the health of very small infants and children at such a huge risk.

I very much doubt that this will be the end of the matter but I for one fully intend to bring these irresponsible and negligent individuals to book.

Hmm Have you mistaken this forum for the Daily Mail? Is there a question in there - what are you looking to discuss?

'Steiner parent in over-reaction shock'

There's your headline. Wink

On a practical level, outbreaks of D and V happen everywhere - schools, hospitals, nursing homes. Would be difficult to keep great hygiene when camping I expect. But I am not sure what your point is, OP.

Maybe it is the fault of the 'feral children' Grin

a) outbreaks happen. You reported it, the relevant department will deal with it. Whether the organisers were in any way responsible will depend on both what caused it, and whether the right containment measures were put in place. But were all those afflicted at this camp (you mention parents and neighbours)? It's possible it's not related at all.

b) drugs. Much more serious IMHO. Did you report this to the police?

How many times have you posted this, OP?

Hello. Just popping by to say we've deleted the other two threads with identical OPs to keep the discussion in one place and avoid confusion.

I apologise for my earlier rant and multiple posting's. Perhaps it was due to my lack of sleep and continued ongoing illness. although it has raised and interested question?

When are the circumstances right to whisteblow given that you may be party to efforts by others to conceal wrong doing ?

Sounds like typical Steiner School behaviour :(

You lost me at Steiner.

I'm bait lost too.

If, as suggested in OP, organisers of an event are taking drugs illegally in front of children, then I'd say you make an immediate report to the police. Did you?

OP I'm a bit shocked you have reported a D&V outbreak and not people who are drug taking whilst responsible for and near to children.
