My daughter woke up this morning with spots on her lip, tongue and feet. she hasn?t been previously unwell, however a few kids in the area (including one or two who go to same childminder) have also got it. she had a slight temp but is generally well in herself at the moment.
i presume this is the start of Hand, Foot and Mouth. im looking for any advise any1 can give me and what to expect.
Until now i had never heard of this illness, i cant remember it being around when i was a child but apparently it is a 'common childhood illness'.
i hope i wont have to take to long off work but how long are they contagious for?
ANY ADVISE ON THIS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED :)

I think by the time you see the spots they aren';t contagious anymore, but don't take that as gospel, I may be wrong it is a few years since we last had this virus. It depends how badly your dd reacts, one of my dc was basically fine after a day, the other was very poorly and took about 4 days to feel better.

thank you for your reply.
if my dd isnt any conagious anymore now her spots have come out then she may still be able to go to the childminders, i will get this checked out, thank you. 4 days isnt so bad i was worried it would be more like 7-10 days :)

she is fine now apart form a few spots which are annoying her in her mouth. she is back eating and drinking normally. she did have a fever but wasnt really high, she was generally ook in herslef still running around an dplaying it was just the spots in he rmouth which were getting her down, mainly as she couldnt eat/drink/have a bottle/dummy.
im so glad its gone and didnt last long.
