DS is 12.5 months old and woke yesterday evening with a temp of 40.8 which eventually went down to 39.4 after 5ml of Calpol and 2.5ml of ibuprofen. It was still high during the night so had another 5ml of Calpol at 3am.
Took him to dr this morning and was berated for not giving DS the full dose of Calpol - it says 5-10ml for age 1-3 on the box. His ears were a bit pink but dr said no need for antibiotics. Told to go home, give him 10ml of Calpol and 2.5ml of Ibuprofen if needed.
So, he had 10ml of Calpol at 10am, by 12.30pm his temp had shot up again and he was shaking so gave him the ibuprofen. This had no effect so gave another 10ml of Calpol at 2pm which lowered his temp enough for the shaking to stop. However, it's now 5.30 and his temp is now 40deg and the Calpol box says I can only give 4 doses a day which he has had. I obviously don't want to overdose him but what do I do?
