Week Long Headache

Hi All

My Daughter is 14 and is headache prone. We had alot of trouble last year with headaches that went on for days at a time. She is under the care of a brilliant Cranial Osteo and to date things have been good. However, for the last week she has had a permanent headache.

We have been to the Docs and the Cranial Osteo twice. Doc has prescribed Ibuprofen and Co-codamol, and today, Propranolol which she had previously but we were never certain that it actually helped.

She hasn't been to school and has even missed clubs etc so I know it's bad.

She is happy and alert, not sensitive to light, she has been sick once but prob Co-codamol. We have also tried Syndol, Lavender, ice packs.

Does anyone have any advice or support? :(

Thanks

Loads of clear fluids to add to your current treatment. Dehydration adds to headache, so no caffeine drinks. Is it related to her menstrual cycle?

I can only suggest that it may just be a virus.

my dd is 9 and had a headache for a week about a month ago, and was generally under the weather.

co codamol could be the sick culprit yes.

I really think time will be the cure, my dd gets things all the time, much more kids, and i feel so helpless. She's off at the moment with a stomach prob.

Thanks ladies, sorry I haven't been on for a few days.

Lord of the flies, it all started on a very hot day, on Sports Day, the school in their wisdom decided to only let the girls go to the toilets two at a time! This is after they tell you to give kids extra water! She did say it stopped her drinking as much as she should but in general I do nag her to drink lots of water.

sneezecakesmum it doesn't appear to be linked to her menstrual cycle which is rather annoying as it would help explain.

piratecat, the Doctors receptionist did say that they had had a few people in with headaches that lasted a few days, my poor thing seems to have got the real nasty attack! If it is that. Hope your little one is on the mend.

We both came down with a horrible sneezy cold Saturday just to add to the troubles! She is back at the cranial osteopath as we speak. Daughter says it's starting to feel better but still a three out of ten!
